ONE
IN THE FACE OF-USES FOR THE FIRST TIME WORLD
In the history
of the movies in Quebec, through where pontificate
director names as Gilles Carle and Dennys
Arcand, authors of some fiction long movies
that passed in the screens all over the world
and are today undeniable marks of this brilliant
cinematography, the animation has an only
and unquestionable place.
The creation in 1939 of the “Office
National du Film du Canada (ONF)” as
a public production and distribution organisation
of films, quickly changed to an exceptional
place of cinematographic creation , quickly
responsible for one of the most vigorous and
brilliant cinematographies of the world animation.
The name Norman MacLaren became very quickly
the ambassador by excellence of the quality,
concerns and experimentation characterising
the department of animation of ONF.
Along the 59 years of its existence, ONF produced
more than 9000 titles (among animation, documentaries
and long-pictures of fiction), it developed
new technologies and it received more than
3000 rewards from all over the world.
Laureated with a honorary Oscar “in
recognition of its dedicated commitment to
originate artistic, creative and technological
activity and excellence in every area of filmmaking”,
ONF saw its productions along the time rewarded
with 10 Oscars. One of them was attributed
to CO Hoedeman by its film “he/she Reads
Château of Sabre” in 1978.
Author of an impressive filmography, Co Hoedeman
continues to accumulate works, rewards and
to produce new films. Hes last production
will be seen for the first time in the world
in the AVANCA’98, It is called “Ludovic”
and its 10 minutes tell the following story:
“Incapable of expressing his emotions,
a young child often projects them onto his
“toutou” (or a doll) wich becomes
his alter ego, friends, confidant and sometimes
his only refuge”. |
