A WORKSHOPS space where new projects are developed, where films are filmed, where ideas are exchanged and practiced. A space to finish movies, to make RESET and start new and great projects!

Workshops that count for the first time with the support of AVANCA FILM FUND.
A fund to support film production in the Estarreja Municipality.

During 5 days films are prepared.
Then, FILMMAKERS come from all over to film and produce films on the streets, in the fields and with the people of Avanca. A battle of creativity, filmic experimentation, explosive narrative, technical accuracy.
Participating in CREATIVE FILM WORKSHOPS is to integrate an unexpected film crew and produce a film for the big screen. Fiction, animation, documentary, in films without time limit and produced by teams that mix all nationalities.
By participating in CREATIVE FILM WORKSHOPS must suggest a project and / or preferences in Shooting team.

THE TUTORS
Winning filmmakers are the tutors of the teams, supporting, with their experience, each of the films in production.
(The tutors will also present their work and the reason for what they do and how. A moment of inspiration and excellence ...)
In AVANCA 2019 we will have the intervention of:
Peter Brosens (Belgium)
Multi award winning filmmaker and author of films like “King of the Belgians” (2016), “Altiplano” (2009) or “Khadak” (2006). Films shown on Avanca, Cannes, Sundance, and worldwide.
Roman Zhigalov (Russia)
Author of the award-winning "The Forest", is one of the most amazing filmmakers of the new generation of Russian cinema. He directs in Moscow the "RZ Studio".
Luciana Abad (Argentina)
Film distributor. A unique international experience and the first voice of Latin American short films.
Practical work to be developed with the support of the filmmakers:
Cláudio Jordão
Award-winning director, among others, is a co-author of the outstanding and multi award-winning "Conto do Vento". His short film "A tua vez" premieres at AVANCA 2019.
Diogo Carvalho
Screenwriter and director, his first feature film was selected in the INPUT-TV. He is also the author of several comic books.
Francisco Lança
A renowned author in the Portuguese animation, author of the award-winning "O Mar Português" (1989) or the film nominated in Annecy, "Zé e o Pinguim" (2003). Last "Amo-te cigarra".
Luís Diogo
Screenwriter and director of the most awarded film in the history of Portuguese cinema. His feature film "Uma Vida Sublime" was partially shot on AVANCA 2016.
Luís Margalhau
Documentary filmmaker, author, among others, of "Afinando pessoas, pássaros e flores " (2016) or "Nós na Rua " (2012), which had national premiere in theaters.
Luís Oliveira Santos
Filmmaker, photographer, architect, is the author of "A Luz da Terra Antiga" (2012), nominated for the Sophia Awards. One of his documentaries has more than 119,000 views on Vimeo.
Nelson Martins
Producer and director, among others he is a co-author of the outstanding and multi award-winning "Conto do Vento". His short film "A tua vez" premieres at AVANCA 2019.
Rosário Costa
Producer and multimedia artist, she has participated in AVANCA workshops as creative, coordinator and above all implementing new projects.

PROJECT 3 – CREATING ANIMATION CINEMA
Be part of a team and/or develop a new animation cinema project.

PROJECT 4 – WORKSHOP FOR ACTORS
Aimed at professional actors, amateurs and students who wish to work and explore improvisation techniques for cinema. The primitive raw material of the work will be the actor and his instruments - body, voice, imagination - in confrontation with an established argument. Starting from characters and situations already written, it will be up to the actor, with his creative force, to deepen their dimensions and give them meaning. The results of this exploratory process may be part of a feature film.
